We had a protest two weeks ago because we don't have a homeless shelter here. They want to ship homeless out of the county. At the end of the protest we had a guy come up and offer to buy us a building for a shelter! We have to meet him tomorrow to show him the building we found. So we should have our shelter within a few weeks!http://www.columbushomelessadvocatesteam.org
We have a new group we started and it looks like it is getting off the ground! Here in Columbus, Indiana, we don't have a homeless shelter that takes everyone in. We have a small one but you have to meet certain criteria to be permitted to stay. Like live here at least 6 weeks. Or have a job. I think a job would keep most in a home. So we held a protest a couple of weeks ago and we now have a guy offering to buy us a building so we can open a homeless shelter.
