Good enough!!!???

Don't allow anybody but God to tell you what you're worth. That's too much power to give anyone. If people can label you, they can limit you. Until you know how God feels about you, you'll know neither your worth as an individual nor your life's purpose. You'll worry about how you look, what others think, and whether or not you're going to succeed in life. But when you believe God's promise, '...I have loved you with an everlasting love...I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt...' (Jeremiah 31:3-4 NKJV), you're free to focus on improving and reaching your God-given potential. What life has torn down, God can rebuild.

When Jesus was asked, 'Which is the greatest commandment?' He answered, '...Love the Lord...and...Love your neighbour as yourself.' (Matthew 22:37-39 NIV) So our greatest commitments should be based on the two greatest commandments. The problem is we get involved with things that keep us from doing this. The Bible says: 'No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs-he wants to please his commanding officer.' (2 Timothy 2:4 NIV) In other words, be careful what you commit to.

But others have a tendency to assume everything is good. Both kinds of thinking can hurt you. Elisabeth Elliot, author of All That Was Ever Ours, points out, 'All generalisations are false including this one; yet we keep making generalisations. We create images; graven ones that can't be changed. We dismiss or accept people, products, programmes and propaganda according to the labels they come under. We know a little about something, and we treat it like we know everything.' Learn to be more discerning!

'I knew you before time began. I know how many hairs are on your head. Like parent, like child, you're created in My image. I have plans for you. I've also given you the 'gifts' needed to fulfil them; and what I give, nobody can take away. But don't neglect them; exercise them, and stir them up daily. Rest assured, I've started a good work in you and I'm going to finish it. I always complete what I begin. My Word concerning you is forever settled, and My commitment to you is unending. In this life you will have challenges, but cheer up; I've robbed Satan of his power to control you and the world of its power to destroy you. When you're in trouble remember, I'm present to help. Give Me your burdens and I will sustain you.
